So I was recently making a form change for a model driven app, and I thought I was going mad! I needed to remove a column from the form, and for the life of me I couldn’t see how to get rid of it….
I’ve definitely deleted many a column in the past – so just couldn’t understand why I was having difficulty this time.
I’d replaced a column, with a different data type, and had put the new column on to the form and needed to get rid of the old one
But when I looked at the toolbar, no delete button was visible
After scratching my head for a while, I finally resorted to trying the Classic editor and was excited to see a ‘Remove’ button so I could finally get rid of the column
Alas, it wasn’t as simple as that – but atleast the mystery was finally solved, thanks to good old Classic (see below error message!)
So that’s it – you can’t delete required fields from a form – so the solution is to edit the field so that it’s no longer required, and remove from the form!
Annoying, but I got there in the end!
